No full time jobs? Let's try games instead.
Mike Hugos, a CIO for hire, has a different take on job creation. Saying that it might sound a bit absurd, he asks us in one his latest posts in CIO Magazine to suspend judgment for a moment and consider this: the way people interact in massively multi-player online role playing games (MMORPGs or MMOs for short) is also a model for how people can interact and earn a living in business.
If you know popular MMOs like World of Warcraft (WoW) or EVE Online (EVE) and many others provide people with a central theme for a game, a set of rules that guide the players and a rich multi-media online real-time environment where people interact. Otherwise the games are unscripted and what happens is the result of the interactions of the players – just like the way the real world happens.
“Given that more and more people enter and re-enter the workforce every day, and given that more and more people work as temps and contract workers because companies are reluctant to hire full time employees, perhaps it’s time to come to terms with some trends that are accelerating year after year.”
