Voting Closed – Top 40 Innovation Bloggers of 2012
VOTING IS NOW CLOSED
Innovation Excellence loves making innovation insights accessible for the greater good, because we truly believe that the better our organizations get at delivering value to their stakeholders the less waste of natural resources and human resources there will be.
As a result we are eternally grateful to all of you out there who take the time to create and share great innovation articles, presentations, white papers, and videos and to make a list of the Top 40 Innovation Bloggers available each year.
NEWSFLASH – We’ve just added two copies (2) of Sarah Miller Caldicott’s great new book Midnight Lunch to the list of prizes ($21.95 value each), along with a $3,000 ticket to the Front End of Innovation EMEA event March 4-6, 2013 in Copenhagen, Denmark to the contest portion of this initiative for one lucky voter to win.
Our lists from the two previous years have been tremendously popular:
Top 40 Innovation Bloggers of 2010 (download the PDF)
Top 40 Innovation Bloggers of 2011 (download the PDF)
Innovation Excellence is now looking for the Top 40 Innovation Bloggers of 2012.
Do you, or does someone you know, write articles about innovation?
Or do you just have someone that you like to read that writes about innovation, or some of the important adjacencies – trends, consumer psychology, change, leadership, strategy, marketing, management, collaboration, or social media (as they relate to innovation)?
Well, Innovation Excellence is looking to recognize the Top 40 Innovation Bloggers and you helped us find them with your nominations. Now it is time to vote, and help us narrow things down to a list of the Top 40 Innovation Bloggers of 2012.
People who vote for someone will be entered into the prize drawings for a range of great prizes (we’ll add more prizes here as event organizers and others offer them up), including:
- FREE Conference Ticket to the Front End of Innovation EMEA (March 4-6, 2013)
- 2 copies of the five-star book – Midnight Lunch by Sarah Miller Caldicott – $21.95 value (x2)
- 2 signed copies of the five-star book – Stoking Your Innovation Bonfire by Braden Kelley – priceless
- More prizes TBD – contact us to add your event or book to this contest
The deadline for submitting votes is December 31, 2012 at midnight GMT.
The ranking will be done by me with influence from votes and nominations. The quality and quantity of contributions to Innovation Excellence by an author will be a BIG contributing factor (through the end of the voting period), so there is still time for authors and bloggers to make their first (or your best) contribution to Innovation Excellence yet. To contribute to Innovation Excellence, simply:
- Join the community
- Click on the ‘Add Content’ option in the site’s main menu and log in with the same username and password you used to create your account
You can vote in any of these four ways (and each earns points for them, so please feel free to vote all four ways):
- Sending us the name of the blogger by @reply on twitter to @ixchat
- Adding the name of the blogger to the comments below
- Adding the name of the blogger as a comment to this article’s posting on Facebook
- Adding the name of the blogger as a comment to this article’s posting in our Linkedin Group (14,800+ members)
The official Top 40 Innovation Bloggers of 2012 and the contest winners will then be announced on Innovation Excellence on January 1, 2013.
We’re curious to see who you think is worth reading.

Steve Todd
A good list, to be sure. I already follow a handful of these folks, and look forward to learning about the rest.
The one that I follow slavishly is Steve Todd. Yes, he’s a fellow employees, but I think his study of successful innovation patterns and behaviors (increasingly using analytics) is itself an innovative approach to the topic of innovation — meta-innovation?

I am voting for Mitch Ditkoff because he constantly presents insightful ideas,quotes,quips,anecdotes,little-known facts, biographies, revelations and epiphanies regarding creativity and innovation in his written words on his innovation blog site (he’s also a much sought-after speaker)which sparks, lights on fire, and launches into the stratosphere and beyond anyone who is in the least interested in, connected to, channeling, and aspiring toward innovation and creativity in any field of human endeavour.

Gregg Fraley, the best teacher when it comes to creativity and innovation
John Kapeleris gets my vote
Braden, this is a good initiative, but you need to rethink the approach as it is flawed. This is less about who contributes with strong content on a regular basis and more about who puts the most effort into activating their social media networks. I have chosen not to do this as I believe the people in my network have more important things to do. Perhaps you can come up with a better approach next year? I am not fully sure what it should be, but I am sure we can ask the community for good input 🙂 Stefan
Stefan, above it states that I do the ranking and that a BIG factor is the quality and quantity of contributions to Innovation Excellence. It is not purely a social media voting exercise, but votes do show a certain element of an author’s popularity.
Braden
@innovate
So it is either your preferences or the social media exercise? 🙂 Well, I am actually only half-joking here. Don’t get me wrong – you know I like what you do. I just think that you have a great initiative that you can use for so many other things (the big vision could be the Oscars of innovation for many different categories) but for this to happen you need to improve the voting concept. Just food for thought…
My vote is for Gregg Fraley – @greggfraley
Jose Baldaia

I share in Stefan’s comments and Greg’s supporting comment. I’ve seen appeals to individuals communities to vote, why?
I’ve read some amazing innovation thinking during this year, I’ve enjoyed many of the ‘snappy’ solutions as well. There is a healthy community and the winners, in the end are the ones that ‘invest’ in reading and returning.
The nominations offered so far are for me top in what they contributed, be it one or many articles. An outright winner, surely not necessary and it does, to quote from the film, Casablanca: “round up the usual suspects”
Keep the community vibrant Braden and ALL involved are the real winners.

Mitch Ditkoff!
Have collaborated with Mitch on many projects undertaken with mutual / shared clients. He’s at his absolute best when confronted with room full of stony-faced, “I’m here because my boss sent me” types — breaks down the barriers to resistance, gets all the reluctants focussed on how they can make their organizations and themselves innovate and change for the better.
Mitch Ditkoff is #1, have known Mitch for years, has never waived for his one-pointed approach in life to INNOVATION and inspiration
