Crowdsolving Unsafe Cities — Social impact winner Elsa D’silva:
ElsaMarie D’Silva is the Cofounder and Managing Director of Red Dot Foundation (Safecity) which is a platform that crowdsources personal experiences of sexual violence and abuse in public spaces. Since Safecity started in Dec 2012, it has become the largest crowd map on the issue in India, Kenya, Cameroon and Nepal.
Through crowdsolving technology, Safecity has taken on prevalent social problems by using ‘tech power’ to change the way society has created opportunities for attackers. In this video, D’Silva — a ‘Crowd Sourced Social Impact’ winner from the #DigitalWomenAwards — speaks to the significant social progress being made to disrupt violence, and also reflects on the ample opportunities for young women entrepreneurs.
